Position Overview: The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will play a crucial role in a team working on state-of-the-art switch mode power supply design, focusing on the region of 1kW. The position is based in either Bristol and offers a stimulating environment where the successful candidate can contribute to delivering solutions that meet customer expectations for performance and timescales.
Person Specification:
Requirements:
- Qualifications / Education / Training: A BSc in subjects related to Power Electronics is expected, with a relevant MSc / PhD being advantageous.
- Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in mixed signal and Power Electronics. Experience with SMPS is advantageous. Familiarity with simulation tools such as PSpice, SIMetrix, Matlab-Simulink-Simscape is helpful, and knowledge of LLC is desirable.
- Knowledge: The candidate should possess a solid grounding in the principles of electronics design, knowledge of available components, their performance, and suppliers. Understanding of PCB design rules and industry standards of workmanship is necessary.
Desirable:
- Skills & Competencies: The candidate should demonstrate the ability to understand SMPS hardware system requirements, devise control schemes, and apply digital hardware to meet requirements. Proficiency in moving between the analogue and digital domain is essential.
Personal Attributes:
- The ability to organize one's work effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a low level of supervision.
