Job description

To have achieved (or be working towards) appropriate accreditation from a professional counselling body.

 

To use appropriate forms and paperwork during the counselling process and afterwards for outcomes monitoring and reporting within the parameters of confidentiality.

 

To write appropriate client notes after each counselling session and ensure they are secure within confidentiality parameters.

 

To use an established computer system such as Core Net to input basic personal details, for

documentation of outcomes etc.

 

To attend in-house and external training (when possible) to support and enhance personal development of skills, techniques and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.

 

To participate in monthly mandatory clinical supervision. 

 

To undertake any further administration of your personal client case load.

 

To report to, and liaise, with the Operations Manager and Counselling Manager as necessary.

Ensure culture and diversity issues for the service user are considered at all times, and report any forms of discrimination.

To correspond and liaise as necessary with internal or external agencies on behalf of clients.

Attend relevant meetings, training courses, Personal Development Plan and 1-2-1 sessions as required.

Follow all health and safety and lone working procedures, reporting any discrepancies.

Make use of all IT systems available, including Microsoft packages, to monitor and deliver an effective service.

Promote and encourage a high level of client involvement, consultation and communication.

Advise management promptly of any signs of problems or concerns about a client (within the parameters of confidentiality i.e. exceptions).

To be flexible, adaptable and undertake work to support the aims of Newport Mind.

The post is based at Newport Mind.

To carry out any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.
