Contract – 37 Hours


An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Practitioner to join the First Contact / Information, Advice and Assistance (IAA) Team within Newport City Council. The Team forms a vital function of the Council’s initial response within Adult Services.


The role will involve working within the requirements of The Social Services & Well-Being (Wales) Act 2014 and delivering the Council’s statutory responsibilities. To achieve this, as part of the management team, you will support an experienced team to provide the citizens of Newport with information and advice relating to care and support and assistance in accessing care and support.


This is an exciting time to join the team as we continue to develop a robust service that aims to offer prevention and early intervention opportunities, whilst promoting wellbeing. The role will include supporting the team to working in collaboration with citizens and carers to establish what matters to them, to ensure the right service at the right time, from a strengths-based approach.


The role has an emphasis on multi-agency working and you will work closely with colleagues from differing professions and partner organisations to ensure the best service is provided.


Applications will be welcomed from either a Social Work or Occupational Therapy qualification.


You will primarily be supporting the highly experienced and skilled Team with operational and professional decision making on a day-to-day basis working alongside the current Senior Practitioner and under the direction of the Team Manager. Recognising and responding to concerns received in relation to adults at risk forms a significant part of this role.


There will be a need to provide professional supervision to appropriate staff. Newport City Council are committed to the professional development of their staff, therefore any training needs identified to support you in this role will be provided.
