An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Temporary full-time Senior Practitioner (6 months) in the West Kent Disabled Children’s Team 1. Our team consists of a Team Manager, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers and Social Work Assistants and you will work closely with our colleagues in the Disabled Young People’s Social Work Teams and other key agencies, such as Health, Education and the voluntary sector.
You will be working with disabled children and young people aged between 0 and 17 supporting them to progress towards independence. The role within our team will enable you to gain further experience in a wide range of work, including supporting Children in Need, Court applications, Children in Care and Child Protection.
You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent social work knowledge, skills and values to deliver the highest quality service to disabled children, their families and carers. Experience in Children’s Services would be essential, including Child Protection.
The team covers a large geographical area and is based in Montague House, Tunbridge Wells and there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area covered by the team.
This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
You will hold a degree in Social Work (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England and have a variety of post-qualification experience of working with children and their families.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
