Postion Summary
We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer with extensive experience in refining, LNG, petrochemicals, or energy transition technologies. The engineer would be required to utilise their expansive knowledge in all areas of design from conceptual studies to detailed engineering.
The engineer should have a proven track record and will be recognised for their understanding of the key process concepts as well as having a good understanding of developing technical / market trends and client requirements. Their previous experience will mean that they are familiar with standard process deliverables such as design basis, H&MB, PFDs, process descriptions, P&IDs etc and would be comfortable both originating as well as approving these documents. Simulation experience is highly desirable and experience in multiple software (Hysys, Pro II, Unisim, Promaxv and Flare System Analyser) will be an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Executes process deliverables according to a set engineering design criteria utilising approved engineering procedures, practices, and codes and standards.
- Prepares, coordinates, and reviews designs, studies, reports and proposals.
- Uses specialized engineering hydraulic programs such as Flare System Analyser, Pipeflo, PIPENET, etc to interpret or complete calculations.
- Uses 3D model software such as SmartPlant Review in order to review the physical design of a plant.
- Takes the initiative to coordinate the detailed design development of a system with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.
- Apply basic chemical engineering principals of heat transfer, vapor-liquid equilibria, mass transfer and thermodynamics in process design.
- Perform design calculations using standard simulation programs (Hysys, Pro II, Unisim, and/or Promax).
- Experienced in relief calculation methodologies and industry codes and standards applicable to pressure relief design. Develop relief load narratives, relief load calculations and relief valve datasheets.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
Substantial experience is required in at least one of the following industries/unit operations: Refining, LNG, Gas Processing, Petrochemicals, Energy Transition (hydrogen production, CCS etc)
- Proficient in the process design of equipment, including vessels, columns, heat exchangers and package process specifications for equipment and control valves.
- Takes the initiative to coordinate the design development with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.
- Knowledgeable of and performs standard discipline engineering activities on projects with minimal technical oversight.
- Demonstrated experience in process simulation and automation preferred.
- Specific experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments: Natural gas processing including liquefaction and regasification oil, gas or biomass to chemicals such as methanol and ammonia, Petrochemicals such as HDPE, LDPE, MEG, PET, PTA, PVC and others, Carbon capture and sequestration, Hydrogen value chain including reforming, liquefaction, transportation and fueling stations, Offshore and onshore pipelines, Desalination, raw water, demineralized water and waste water treatment plants, Familiarity with current process technologies and licensors associated with the above.
Desirable
- Experience of performing and checking hydraulic calculations for flare and relief networks
- Knowledge of Develop and check Design Pressure and Temperature Diagrams (DPDTs) including analysing and determining piping systems design conditions
