Product Innovation
We are looking for a Chemical Engineer to lead research activity in the process innovation team and support with validation and consultancy contract work, utilising specialist skills such as heat transfer calculations and mathematical modelling.
Position
- Project managing research and development activities within the area of food and beverage processing (thermal & nonthermal). Project will likely require skills such as engineering calculations, mathematical modelling, coding etc.
- Planning and managing own contract project work activities to meet project deadlines such as validation or consultancy projects, involving some travel to client sites in the UK and abroad.
- Responsible for the business development of research and contract work building client relationships, preparing/reviewing quotes.
- Design and provision of training courses and presentations on external/internal training courses, seminars and symposia.
- Responding to direct technical enquiries and requests for processing advice.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent in process/chemical engineering (a food industry slant would be advantageous). Other engineering or scientific degrees would be considered.
- Post graduate qualification such as Masters or PHD in relevant subject, and/or several years work experience in relevant role.
- An awareness of the importance of heat processing in the food industry.
- Strong and proven, capabilities in process calculations, particularly around heat and energy transfer (ideally some experience using the finite element method).
- Coding experience in Python and/or MATLAB to facilitate process calculations.
- Experience using CFD software (for example COMSOL).
- Time management and financial awareness to facilitate effective project management.
- Full UK/EU driving licence and eligibility to live/work in the UK. Ability to travel within the UK and beyond.
