Senior Process Engineer

Job purpose
Your role as a Senior Process Engineer will include designing, commissioning, and optimising pilot plants and bespoke process development equipment as well as site ultility & infrastructure assets, spanning multiple Business Units across Teesside and 3rd party sites.

Principal accountabilities
Execute and lead Process Engineering design activities, following company standards and procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the Project Managers, to deliver the capital programme for our Teesside businesses and improve operational efficiency.
Develop and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations, Process Engineering datasheets and drawings.
Develop Process Engineering designs, including pressure relief systems, heat and mass balances, process specifications, P&ID development and process safety design.
Check & approve Process Engineering calculations.
Lead process hazard assessments and other technical risk assessments (including Hazard Studies, LoPA & Area Classification).
Collaborate with & give quality technical advice to internal customers such as our R&D teams.
Provide Process Engineering support for pilot plants, bespoke process development equipment and site infrastructure (including gas storage & distribution systems, steam systems, and a compressor house).
Provide Process Engineering and risk management advice to the Teesside sites and the wider Johnson Matthey business.
Provide technical input as part of the Emergency Response Team in the event of a Major Incident.
Provide awareness training & validation for the wider technical community.
Scope
Working with Project Managers and other stakeholders (including R&D Managers, Operators and other engineering disciplines).
Coordinating internal technical resource on relevant projects

No special factors. Typically office-hours only. Limited requirement for travel beyond the Teesside area.
