Job description

Our client
Green Lithium Refining Limited believes the electric revolution is fundamental to reducing the carbon emissions that contribute to global climate change. Securing the supply and refining capability of lithium chemicals is a vital step in enabling the electric revolution and this is where Green Lithium steps in.
There is currently no large-scale lithium chemicals refining capability in Europe despite a significant market opportunity. Working with key strategic partners to address the need to improve the European battery-metal supply chain, Green Lithium will support the ‘net-zero’ ambitions of society to transition to the future green economy.
They are on an exciting journey to build the UK’s first Scale Up Plant and Full Scale lithium refinery in the North-East of England. Once operational, the full scale refinery will produce high-purity lithium chemicals and will employ 250 local, highly skilled people.
The company will harness industry-leading process technology enabling clean, low-carbon processing of high volumes of lithium ore whilst supporting long-term economic prosperity in the local area.
The opportunity
The appointment of a Senior Process Engineer, is the next important step in their plans to create a world class engineering team to develop the processes and specify the equipment initially for the scale up plant and then full scale plant for this first of a kind (FOAK) technology.
As a team, they aspire to best-in-class environmental credentials and are working hard to ensure the refinery is as environmentally sound as possible, choosing processes, equipment and partners who champion this and help them achieve their mission.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager and appointed consultants, you will lead the design of effective processes in line with Green Lithium’s strategic objectives and play a crucial role in owner design decisions.  This will include chemical and mineral processing requirements; whilst assessing issues, risks and options to deliver realistic and effective solutions.  As Senior Process Engineer, you will contribute effectively to Green Lithium’s  strategic net-zero and carbon reduction initiatives to identify and implement creative and innovative solutions.  Collaborating effectively with our engineering partner you will pro-actively challenge design assumptions and requirements; whilst continually considering any implications on previous process assumptions.
As the Scale Up Plant becoming operational, you will also proactively look to continue to maximise performance and efficiency, whilst supporting the design and delivery of the Full Scale Plant.
About you
As a degree qualified Senior Process Engineer, you will have considerable experience in the development of process designs for new technology or new plant from FEED through to commissioning and installation.
With well-developed communication skills, you will be able build effective long-term relationships with the engineering partner to develop process design initially in a scale up plant; to pro-actively manage risk and engineering issues to input into equipment and plant specifications.
Your flexible and responsive approach to solving Process Engineering problems will enable you to continue to develop effective design systems whilst maintaining progress on this exciting and challenge project.  With strong project based Process Engineering experience, you will have considerable experience with equipment specification, flow, pumps, fittings etc to design the detail for the process.
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the area’s most exciting businesses in the next stage of their growth as they build the UK’s first lithium refinery bringing huge opportunity to the region.
Green Lithium actively seeks to recruit people from all walks of life as they fundamentally believe a diverse, inclusive workforce builds the most creative and talented teams.
