Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Project Managerto oversee a £4 million industrial development project in High Wycombe. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and delivery of the project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Initiation:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Establish clear project objectives and deliverables in alignment with client requirements and company goals.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to finalize project specifications.

Project Execution:

  • Lead and manage the project team, including subcontractors, suppliers, and internal staff.
  • Ensure adherence to project plans and timelines, making adjustments as necessary to accommodate changing conditions and priorities.
  • Oversee all construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address any issues that arise.

Budget and Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the project budget, tracking expenses and ensuring cost control measures are in place.
  • Approve project expenditures and manage financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate billing and payments.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing cost-saving measures where possible.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project team members, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports, highlighting key milestones, risks, and issues.
  • Facilitate project meetings, including kick-off meetings, progress reviews, and stakeholder briefings.

Risk Management and Problem Solving:

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Resolve any project-related issues or conflicts that arise, employing effective problem-solving techniques.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of project management experience in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully delivering industrial development projects.
  • Extensive experience managing projects of similar scale and complexity, preferably within the UK. 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing project budgets and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methodologies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
