Senior Quality Control Technician

Job Description

Join Philips Emergency Care Professional (EC Pro) manufacturing team and help us to provide advanced medical device solutions in pre-hospital monitoring, cardiac therapy and data management. In this role you will be responsible for achieving a state of high-quality performance and compliance of our products. You will support management of products requiring inspection services across business functions and provides support for EC Pro’s quality activities (predominantly with the production suppliers but also in the areas of R&D, admin, sales etc.) in line with our Quality Management System (QMS).


Your role:

  • Supports management of Goods Inwards activities & supporting paperwork checks (CofC, Purchase Order etc.) in accordance with quality processes

  • Supports management of Final Goods Release process & supporting paperwork checks (Customer configuration requirements, Sales Order etc) in accordance with quality processes

  • Coordination of QC inspection team to ensure that resources are available to meet Production needs

  • Provide support/creation in developing and conditioning inspection plans, First Article inspection, in-Process and Final Product inspection, Sampling Plans and supporting the validation of production processes etc

  • Working with the Quality Engineers to analyse returns and non-conforming product data to support trending analysis on quality issues and performance metrics.

  • Supporting the Quality Engineers investigation of product quality problems, gather and analyse data to support determination of root cause, and implementation of corrective actions

  • Implement measuring and monitoring of QC processes to identify function performance and business risks

  • Maintaining the calibration status of test equipment and the resolution of issues including the management of new test equipment.

  • Providing real time feedback to quality and manufacturing management on issues that may affect the quality of incoming, outgoing materials or products.

  • Visits supplier / customer sites for resolving complex problems, based upon the broad system knowledge

  • Train and develop other team members in new and existing processes. Drive validation and continuous improvement activities within the QC department

  • You’re right for this role if you have a customer-first attitude and the following:

  • Relevant ONC/HNC level or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum 3 years of related inspection experience (medical device or regulated industry preferred)

  • Good knowledge of, or exposure to quality systems, quality tools and methodologies, such as Critical to Quality, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, Pareto, 8-D, 5 Why

  • Auditing qualification, or experience with auditing suppliers preferred

  • Ability to read and interrogate engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Able to manage and prioritise tasks / activities to align with business objectives

  • Has working knowledge of manufacturing systems products and services

  • Able to manage the balance between independence and willingness to re-assess when new data / information is available

  • Good ‘self-starter’, interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Good working knowledge in Microsoft office packages
