Senior Quantity Surveyor (client side)

I am recruiting on behalf of a boutique style commercial consultancy who specialise in solving complex construction and engineering challenges across various sectors.

We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor (PQS) to join the team to help support and guide sole traders, SME’s and multi-national contractors in commercial and contractual issues in construction.

You will be working across various projects simultaneously within commercial, and the healthcare sector where you will lead from the front and work with clients directly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough cost analysis, budget estimation, and cost planning for construction projects.
• Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BoQ) and cost estimates for various project phases.
• Evaluate and analyse project contracts, tender documentation, and project specifications.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and resolve financial issues.
• Client liaison.
• Monitor project costs, ensuring adherence to budgets and reporting any deviations.
• Collaborate with project teams to provide cost advice, cost management, and value engineering solutions.
• Report writing
• Implement cost control procedures and strategies to minimise financial risks.
• Maintain accurate and organised project records, including cost documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of final accounts and project close-out activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• 10 years experience within the construction industry.
• Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (PQS) in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Able to manage various size projects simultaneously.
