Spencer & James Limited are seeking a passionate and ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor, with experience of delivering projects under JCT & NEC contracts, to join an established team at a leading Principal Contractor.
You will play a pivotal role in securing new business and taking commercial ownership of projects predominantly within the refurbishment sector, while giving guidance and support to your team.
Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Hybrid-Sheffield Office, Home Working and occasional travel to site.

Overview:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor within this team, you will drive profitability and ensure client satisfaction, while working closely with the Commercial Manager and offering guidance/ support to an Assistant Quantity Surveyor/ Quantity Surveyor.
The projects you will work on will predominantly be in the refurbishment sector across various public and private buildings where projects will be generally valued between GBP2m - GBP10m.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Management: Oversee all aspects of two-stage opportunities/projects, ensuring effective cost management, profitability, and risk mitigation in a safe and ethical manner.
Client Relationship Management: Manage upstream client accounts, fostering strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating on project delivery and providing mentorship to an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor.
Consultant and Subcontractor Appointment: Take charge of appointing consultants and subcontractors, ensuring the selection of qualified professionals for project success.
Financial Reporting: Provide regular financial reports and contribute to the administration of applications for payment upstream and downstream.
Contractual Expertise: Utilise your expertise in delivering projects under NEC and JCT Forms of Contract, ensuring compliance and successful project outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Solid understanding of general construction practices.
- Demonstrated experience in commercially managing two-stage opportunities/projects.
- Proven track record in appointing and managing consultants and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with Safety Critical construction is advantageous.
- Experience with NEC and JCT Forms of Contract is essential.
