What you will be doing
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is a key member of the Connexin commercial team, responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the commercial aspects of the business through strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and supply partners.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation, review, and management of contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Ensure that contracts are favourable to the company and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs and applications for payment throughout the construction process, identifying cost-saving opportunities and managing any budget overruns. Monitor retention and FPNs.
Risk Management: Identify and assess commercial risks associated with construction projects and assist with risk mitigation.
Profitability Analysis: Analyse project financial performance, including revenue, costs, and profit margins, and take actions to optimise profitability. Identify new business from existing and new clients.
Procurement and Supply Chain Management: Manage the procurement process, including selecting suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating terms, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
RFPs: Working together with relevant departments to develop accurate and consistent bids. Identify the need for new synthetics and lead any required RFPs to ensure rates are favourable to the company and suppliers are furnished with all required technical information.
Operational: Support the operations function with contractual and commercial advice where required. Review and develop operational processes to improve performance and maximise growth
Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to the senior team and stakeholders, providing insights into the company's project performance and forecasting of cashflow requirements.
Compliance: Ensure you keep up to date with all with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards and all commercial activities are fully compliant.
Essential Experience
- Extensive experience in commercial and financial management in the telecommunications industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, project estimation, measures, and cost control.
- Understanding of industry synthetics for various network builds.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements in the construction industry.
