Job description:
Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors. Their Manchester office is seeking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor within their Industry Business Sector.
This business sector contains a number of blue-chip client organisations and as a result some of the projects you will work on are high profile and have a high capital value. The Candidate will be a key member of their site-based team and will be expected to manage commercial activities on site for the client. Role Responsibilities:
- To be based on the client site in Cheshire 4 days per week.
- Generate estimates of varying levels of accuracy linked to available design information including Estimating/cost planning trough all project phases.
- Use benchmarking data and/or historic cost data to develop cost estimates; adopt parametric or bottom-up principles as appropriate in view of the maturity of the project scope definition and available design information.
- Develop work breakdown structures for cost estimating and contract placement identification.
- Review Scope of Works on Contract packages produced by client engineers.
- Review Conditions of Contract (including insurance provisions) on contract packages
- Support the compilation of enquiry documentation.
- Attendance at Pre-Tender meetings.
- Tender Assessment and resolution of anomalies (when required).
- Presentation of tender reports.
- Collation of Contract Award Packages.
- Cost Management/change management/financial reporting.
- Valuations including valuation of' variations (Projects).
- Management of Final Accounts (Projects).
- Production of Reports on Contract Business.
- Provision of pre and post contract services.
- Formal monthly project portfolio reporting.
- Monitoring all work executed, at all stages, to ensure that an accurate and professional service is offered.
- Administration/Filing/Archiving.
Requirements:
- BSc in Quantity Surveying - ideally Chartered.
- Conversant in all aspects of pre and post contract quantity surveying duties.
- Productive supervision of subordinates including adequate planning, monitoring and control
- Referral of potential problem areas to Team Leader.
- Ability to work with the minimum of supervision and on own initiative.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
