Job Description - Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location - Market Harborough

Saary - £55,000 - £70,000 (experience dependant)

Our Client specialises in bespoke, high-quality Timber Windows. They are a market leading sub and main contractor operating mainly in London who have been successfully trading for nearly 30 years. With an excellent reputation is based upon enhancing some of the UK’s most prestigious buildings.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the commercial activities across various projects. Maximising cash flow, margin, and market share via robust surveying practice. Advising Directors and Quantity Surveyors on contractual matters. Travel to London once or twice a week is typical.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial and Contractual

• Liaising and collaborate with Directors, Contracts managers and operations teams in all contractual activities.
• Liaising with Estimators at project handover to understand spec, scope, and contract sums.
• Preparing, submitting, and agreeing interim valuations/applications in order to enhance commercial outcomes for the company.
• Costing and agreeing variations and robust follow up to ensure payment.
• Valuing variations and ascertaining loss and/or expense.
• Reviewing subcontract documentation for delay and loss and/or expense claims
• Advising colleagues on delays, extensions of time and loss and/or expense and ensuring relevant notices are issued.
• Reporting on the overall financial position of contracts.
• Assisting with tendering for projects

Experience and Qualifications:

• HNC, HND or Degree educated in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
• Minimum of 8 years post qualification experience, preferably in Timber Windows
• Strong contractual expertise, especially JCT suite.
• Experience of preparing Extension of Time and Loss & Expense claims.
• Ability to write effective letters and notices to ensure clients fulfil contractual obligations.

• Salary £55k - £70k depending on experience
