The Role:

As a result of our continued growth and success in sustainable banking, we are looking for a talented Senior Relationship Manager to join our Wellbeing team servicing Scotland to help us in our mission to make money work for positive social, environmental, and cultural change.

Our Senior Relationship Managers are responsible for delivering growth in the provision of Business Banking lending and products, through the development of new and existing customer relationships across your territory and portfolio. This role will be within our Wellbeing Transition Theme which encompasses healthcare, education, arts and culture, philosophy of life (religious organisations) and recreation including sustainable/Green accredited hospitality.

This role has a high degree of autonomy and offers hybrid working with a blend of home and remote working. Candidates will need to be able to visit their client base on a regular basis as well as having use of the Edinburgh/Bristol/London offices as required.

Key Responsibilities will Include:

  • Generating new lending enquiries and presenting credit assessments to the Bank’s UK credit committee, in furtherance of the team objectives
  • Building and managing a portfolio of customer relationships, typically having between £1m and £20m exposure, both in terms of credit risk and operational performance to actively promote Triodos Bank’s lending and marketing events/ campaigns, raising the bank’s external profile across the region.
  • Developing and maintaining a network of key business introducers within the professional business community to ensure that they have a good working knowledge of Triodos Bank and act as introducers of quality business.
  • Developing and maintaining ongoing bank policy and strategy regarding specialist sectors. This also involves raising the awareness of the bank in relevant networks and communities and working with international co-workers to form a wider perspective.
  • Assisting with pan sector activity within business and personal banking to reinforce our regional presence across the UK.
  • Preparing and negotiating indicative term sheets and loan terms for new and existing complex, high profile or large exposure customers and their advisors
  • Liaising with the Technical & Securities team and / or solicitors to ensure smooth processing of loan formalities and pay-outs.
  • Actively participating in team meetings and communications which may involve travelling within the UK and occasional trips to Europe.

What we are looking for:

In order to be successful in this role, you will have considerable experience in commercial lending, and be able to deal with complex credit proposals and customers.

You will have the ability to develop and manage a client portfolio with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with customers from a wide variety of backgrounds. As a senior member of the team, you will be required to mentor and train colleagues in the department and act as deputy for the Team Manager where appropriate.

Key skills and experience:

  • Relevant sector experience including in order of priority: healthcare (essential and covering elderly and special needs care, supported living), education (desirable and covering childcare/nursery, independent schools and colleges including special needs, higher education), arts & culture (desirable), religious and philosophical organisations (desirable), recreation and sustainable tourism (desirable).
  • Relevant existing sector networks (key sector-aligned brokers, introducers, clients and relevant business/industry associations.)
  • Proven business development skills and clear ability to develop and implement a meaningful business development and relationship management plan for your Theme sectors, portfolio and geographic regions.
  • End-to-end lending transaction management including:
    • Origination of lending opportunities including finance/refinance of operating organisations as well as development funding
    • Operational and financial risk assessment of enquiries
    • Formulating and issuing indicative heads of terms
    • Negotiation of key commercial terms
    • Preparing detailed credit proposals and presenting same to UK and Global Credit Committees
    • Engagement, instruction and ongoing communication with key 3rd party providers including monitoring surveyors and RICS valuers, including interpretation of their reports
    • Outlining scope (based on credit-approved heads of terms) for facility agreements, security and other relevant documentation (including development documentation) to panel solicitors to obtain comparable quotes to prepare same representing the bank
    • Negotiation and conclusion of transaction documentation
    • Final overview of documentation, conditions precedent and approval prior to facility pay out (including approving development drawdowns based on monitoring surveyor’s progress reports.)

Offer

In return for your hard work and expertise, you will receive a competitive salary of up to £72,000 (Full time equivalent) depending on experience, plus access to our extensive benefits package, where most of our benefits are non-contributory. This role has a car allowance of £5,750 per annum paid monthly. Please note that we do not pay performance bonuses.
