Senior Research Communications Officer

Job description This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding team in the new virtual UK MND Research Institute (UK MND RI) hosted by King’s College London, with a bold strategy to make a difference to patients’ lives by transforming translational research in motor neuron disease (MND) in the UK.   The UK MND RI collaborative partnership recently launched an ambitious strategy to accelerate the search for a cure for MND by targeted co-funding from government, charities and industry. The first phase is a £4.25 million programme of work involving 6 partner universities across the UK, which will be expanded over the next 5 years to include other universities, hospitals, hospices and other research partners, aiming to leverage £50 million of targeted government funding for MND research. This position will provide high-level communications support to best promote the Institute to internal and external audiences.  This role sits within the Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience at King’s College London but will have responsibility for developing and delivering the Institute’s day-to-day and longer-term communications, with the post holder acting as a key interface between the Institute and internal and external audiences. The role would suit someone who enjoys writing, is proactive, has excellent communications skills, and is able to engage with a range of audiences on complex topics.  The role will provide the individual with experience of managing communications across a large and complex partnership and would suit someone interested in pursuing a career in communications. The post holder will report into the institute’s Senior Research Manager and Co-Directors. This post is offered on a fixed term basis in line with the institute’s current funding plan.
