About us The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is at the heart of UCL’s Grand Challenge of Global Health. The Institute’s vision is for a healthier and more equitable world. IGH aims to support the development of robust solutions to aspects of the world’s major Global Health challenges through research, education, public engagement, and ultimately by informing public policy and professional practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join one of our research centres and develop their own ideas and proposals, according to their subject and methodological interests, working alongside their peers. The aim is for the individual to grow into a future leader. About the role IGH conducts research that informs health policies and leads to improved health outcomes, particularly in under-privileged and under-resourced populations. We are particularly keen to grow the area of climate and health. We will consider strong candidates from a broad range of backgrounds and interested in either studying the effects of Climate Change on health indicators or factors or policies to mitigate its effects. We are particularly interested in research that extends the work of our Centres. For example, research on interaction between Climate Change and maternal health or cardiovascular diseases or infections or gender-based violence. Teaching is also integral to the work of the Institute. The postholder will be expected to develop a portfolio of teaching that complements and is informed by their research. The post is available for three years in the first instance. Extension of the appointment will be subject to progress in obtaining a fellowship or grant funding. About you The postholder should have a PhD in a relevant subject area as well as a strong publication record that demonstrates clear advances in knowledge. Experience of co-developing ideas and contributing to grant submission for funding as a co-applicant or principal applicant as well as a proven track record of high-quality delivery of research-based teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level are also essential requirements for this post.
