About us Set within UCL’s Faculty of The Built Environment, The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER) is comprised of four world-class Institutes, providing the expert knowledge collaborative research and teaching of UCL Energy Institute, UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering, UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage and UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources. UCL Energy Institute’s aim is to help to build a globally sustainable energy system, by bringing to bear multiple disciplinary perspectives to observe, analyse, model and interpret energy use and energy systems. https://www.ucl.ac.uk/bartlett/energy/. About the role The successful candidate will work with the Smart Energy Research Lab (SERL) team led by Professor Tadj Oreszczyn at UCL. The main purpose of this role is to undertake research across the Smart Energy Research Lab’s range of projects relating to energy use in residential buildings. Developing and maintaining SERL’s data assets via best practice data management (e.g., data quality, data linking) processes to ensure SERL data is research-ready and fit for purpose is also a key aspect of this role.   As such, this role will be required to engage with SERL partners, and a range of SERL stakeholders (including DESNZ and other government departments). This post is available from 1 February 2024 and is funded until 31 December 2025 in the first instance, further funding to support the post may be available. About you We are seeking candidates with a PhD, or close to completion, in a relevant field with a substantial data science, quantitative analysis or statistical component; or equivalent relevant experience (including in non-academic organizations) and demonstrable experience conducting hands-on quantitative analyses, preferably using large/complex datasets.
