Job description

We are recruiting a Senior Residential Child Care Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 hours
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Various Locations in the Borough

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Residential Services.

We pay an attractive salary of £33,024 - £35,745 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Are you looking to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable young people? Do you have at least two years’ experience working with challenging behaviours in a residential setting and are looking to make a difference through a therapeutic approach? If so, the post of senior RCCW could be for you.

Caerphilly CBC are looking to recruit a Senior RCCW to join one of our expanding children’s residential homes. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is experienced, skilled and knowledgeable in Residential Childcare and who strives to make a difference to the lives of these vulnerable children.

Working for Caerphilly is very rewarding, and we provide a great system of support for our employees and in return we expect a high standard of care and professionalism. We work very closely with the Caerphilly MyST team whose central purpose is to improve the psychological wellbeing of young people as well as their relationships with birth family, their attachments with safe adults, reduce placement disruptions and particularly the risk of out-of-county placements for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Together, we proactively provide 24/7 care to help these young people to encourage their social, physical, emotional and moral development so that they can reach their full potential.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • NVQ 3 Caring for Children and Young People or NVQ Level 4 in Care, or Predecessor QCF Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care Children and Young People
  • An understanding and an awareness of how trauma can impact on a child and subsequent behaviours.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to undertake home visits, attend meetings etc
