The RSSL Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory performs a wide range of analytical analyses for a variety of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies.
The role of Senior Scientific Administratoris to be responsible for performing a range of routine activities to support effective completion of projects and meet the customer’s contractual agreements.
Technical
Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
Efficiently and proactively perform front end checking on all incoming projects, in line with the quality system requirements. Perform GMP quality check on all incoming projects in the laboratory database system, ensure all relevant methodology and quality documentation is included in the project pack, and confirm required materials are in stock or ordered and correctly storing supplied materials within the laboratory.
Train and sign off all required personnel in front end checking
Provide assistance to the CSA department by effectively managing and coordinating project bookings during peak periods (supporting Short Interval Control Systems in place)
Master Shopper. Responsible for ordering consumables, reagents, and standards from approved suppliers to ensure the seamless operation of the laboratory.
Clarify any omissions to required technical details during project submission directly with clients by e-mail or telephone.
Monitor expiry / disposal dates of reagents and samples and administer disposal activities as required, adhering to relevant SOPs.
Perform routine calibrations of basic wet chemistry equipment, such as pipettes and balances under supervision of a senior member of staff, operating basic lab equipment as directed and ensuring a tidy and safe laboratory working environment.
Perform housekeeping duties as required
Be competent in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role: Laboratory’s LIMS system and Q-Pulse.
Will be expected to work in different laboratories (and CSA) if required.
Provide regular feedback to CSA regarding right first time booked in projects for continuous improvement practices
Be proficient in use of XML formats to efficiently book in projectsPerform some equipment related quality investigations/routine calibrations
Perform Laboratory administration tasks including KPI reporting on project status and timelines
Interact with commercial department on enquiries, coordinating the enquiries inbox and distributing requests from commercial to client project managers
Interact with customers on enquiries and post analysis support (additional analysis requests, raw data requests, etc)
Schedule routine analyses using the scheduling tool, coordinating with analysts and line managers as required.
Arrange engineers visits for instrument servicing/calibrations/repairs with support from instrument owners
Liaise with the Multi Lab Project Coordinator for a seamless delivery of projects to customers with no delays
Accountable for archiving books and project folders on behalf of the wet chemistry group to quality system requirements and train others as required in the process.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
Educated to A-level (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline
Accountable, honest, hardworking and able to work efficiently in a team
Flexible and adaptable to meet customer/business requirements.
Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Self motivated, enthusiastic and quick to learn.
Well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
Computer literate in standard MS office applications
Scientific understanding of basic lab equipment (preferred)
English fluency (written and spoken)
