Job description

About the role

The Huntingdon Learning Disability Partnership Team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Worker on a permanent basis. The role will be based at Scott House in Huntingdon. The role is hybrid, with a mix of office and home working. The role is available as a full time (37 hours) position. We are also able to consider 34 hours worked across 4 days.

The Cambridgeshire Learning Disability Partnership (LDP) brings together specialist health and social care services for people with a Learning Disability. The LDP is responsible for commissioning and providing these services on behalf of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and Cambridgeshire County Council.

If you would like to expand your knowledge and skills by gaining experience of working with adults with learning disabilities within the Learning Disability Partnership please contact Beth on 01223 475920. Alternatively, you can e-mail us on welovesocialworkers@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or visit our website for more information.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

What will you be doing?

We depend on our Senior Social Workers to provide crucial leadership in our most challenging cases, setting clear examples for less experienced members of the team. You’ll be an exemplar of the high standards that we expect in every case, ensuring that every service user’s needs are met with proactive and personalised care.

Effective assessment and support planning in complex cases are crucial and it will be up to you to take the lead in these situations. Liaising with colleagues and third parties to ensure that appropriate and effective action is taken. It will be up to you to monitor and evaluate the support provided to service users, continually looking for ways to innovate in terms of care delivery, where it benefits the service user.

Your leadership role will also include supervising the practice and performance of Social Workers and adult support co-ordinators in the team. Using your experience, you be a creative coach in supervision, enable practice improvements and provide valuable feedback through staff appraisal.

As you’ll be working with adults, both those in need of care and support services, along with their informal carers, it will be crucial that you work in partnership with them in order to establish needs and ensure they are met.

This isn’t just about delivering care, it’s about providing service users with choice and control of their lives and empowering independence.

About you

We are looking for applicants who have a Social Work qualification and are at least 2 years post completion of the ASYE programme. Experience of providing line management support, Making Safeguarding Personal investigations, completing complex case work, including Court of Protection Deprivation of Liberty applications, and experience of using Mosaic database would be desirable. You will also be required to work autonomously as well as supporting other team member as part of multi-disciplinary working with health and social care colleagues.

For a full list of the requirements of the role, please check out the Job Description & Person Specification.
