I am looking to recruit a Senior Specifications Technologist for a globally renowned beverage company with over 5 sites in the UK.

They have made several acquisitions and a have an expansive portfolio of best in class products sold in every major supermarket in the UK and most convenience stores.

Due to this high level of expansion through both acquisitions and inhouse development of several new ranges, they have more than doubled their product portfolio over the last few years and as such are looking to expand their technical team.

This position will be reporting into to the Regulatory Affairs Manager, and will be aid in the training and development of some junior Specifications Technologists within the team. Naturally this role will offer career progression due to this, and this will make a great role for anyone wishing to step up.

We are looking for a Specifications Technologist to join the Research & Development team and take ownership of the Raw Material specifications approval process and systems ensuring ongoing customer and regulatory compliance and satisfaction. They will also support the Regulatory Affairs Manager in ensuring product and label compliance in a constantly changing regulatory environment.

As a Specification Technologist your responsibilities will include;

• Review on an ongoing basis all raw materials to ensure technical information is up to date and contact suppliers and third party manufacturers to obtain necessary documentation
• Working with the Regulatory Affairs Manager, ensure all raw materials are legally compliant
• Approve all raw materials within the Raw Materials Approval Committee (RAMAC) process and work to continuously improve the process
• Ensure that raw material and recipe compliance is robust and secure through implementation of the PLM system
• Maintain high standards of document control relating to the details required for all finished product specifications
• Conduct product artwork approvals as required on behalf of regulatory
• Complete recipe sign offs as required on behalf of regulatory
• Build an in-depth knowledge of relevant UK, EU and international regulations in order to assist the Regulatory Manager in providing regulatory guidance in product development, supply chain and QSE projects.

The successful candidate will have;

• A degree in food science or chemistry.
• 2-3 yrs formulation or regulatory experience.
• Raw material experience and a good understanding of food legislation and HACCP
• Ability to work on their own initiative, across multiple priorities and against tight deadlines.
• Must have excellent organisational and communication skills to provide clear guidance to technical and non-technical colleagues and to be able to liaise with external contacts
• Attention to detail is essential.
