About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Staff Nurse with a background of neuro and/ or spinal rehabilitation experience within an inpatient setting to join the team on our Neuro Rehabilitation Ward at The Wellington Hospital, currently rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and the largest private hospital in the UK.
We’re the largest neurosciences unit in London, which means we can care for patients with a wide range of complex neurological conditions and provide advanced, specialised care – and you’ll be part of a team making that happen.
This role is both exciting and challenging, the skills required are both based on an experience of managing this specialist patient group but also utilizing a strong evidence base.
The Senior Staff Nurse will work with the Multidisciplinary Team to deliver high quality and innovative nursing practice in line with HCA mission and vision and national guidelines and standards in both spinal and neuro rehabilitation. They will actively support the nursing and therapy teams in delivering outstanding patient care relating to HCA mission and values.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertake the first level assessment of the needs of the patient and family.
- Complete documentation relating to patient care and discuss these with the clinical team.
- Develop and maintain clinical competencies
- Facilitate enabling, continuity and consistency of the therapeutic effect of care through consultation with the patient, the family and other health care professionals.
- To liaise and work closely with relevant Clinical Nurse Specialists / Ward Doctor / Clinical Team / Consultants / Primary Care Teams in the provision of a professional medical care, and use skills identified for the post to provide a specialist input to the care that is planned for and delivered to individual patients
- Assess the educational and informational needs of the patient and family. This includes producing and using appropriate materials to ensure optimum understanding of nursing care and the likely outcome.
- Enable the patient and family to participate in the planning of care.
Skills & Experience
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Assessing and mentoring qualification
- Contemporaneous experience within neuro Rehab specialty
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Sound patient assessment skills
- Ability to delegate and prioritise.
- Effective preceptorship / mentorship skills
