Our dynamic and friendly Central and East Glasgow Housing Support teams have an exciting opportunity for two motivated and experienced individuals to join them as Senior Support Workers on a full-time, permanent basis (37.5 hours per week).
The Roles
In our East Glasgow team, you'll be managing a team of 11 Support Practitioners who deliver care and assistance to approximately 14 individuals who have Mental Health, learning disabilities and physical disabilities.
For our Central team, you'll be managing a team of 12 Support Practitioners who deliver care and assistance to 2 individuals who live in a shared house and who have a learning disability and complex needs.
Our Senior Support Workers are classed as Front-Line Management staff and as such your duties would fall under three specific areas as follows:
Staff Management:
Coaching and mentoring front line staff while providing appropriate support including regular supervision.
Identifying the training needs of your team and ensuring that this training is provided.
Producing the monthly rota for your team, considering budgetary requirements and ensuring that all staff meet their contracted hours whilst managing holiday cover and absence.
Developing the ability of your team to produce accurate and effective support plans.
Carrying out 15 hours per week hands on support to both individuals allowing 22.5 hours management time.
Covering on-call shift work as and when needed.
Supported Individuals:
Plan and facilitate meetings with individuals and important people in their lives in order to collate the appropriate information required to write an effective support plan.
Effectively match supported individuals to staff members, keeping in mind the identified outcomes and goals to be achieved for said supported individual.
Organisational:
Liaising with external agencies such as an individual`s family or Social Work Services.
Ensure that the standards set by the SSSC and Care Inspectorate as well as The Richmond Fellowship Scotland`s own standards are always met.
Positively represent the values of The Richmond Fellowship Scotland when engaging with all external agencies.
Additional Information
For this fantastic opportunity, you will need at least 2 years previous experience of supporting individuals within a social care setting and already have or be willing to work towards your SVQ Level 3.
In our Glasgow Central service, we may use CALM which are physical intervention and escape techniques to ensure the safety of supported individuals, colleagues, and members of the public. Techniques include but are not limited to; posture and distance when supporting, understanding triggers and escalations signs along with guiding individuals away to deescalate situations.
A full UK manual driving licence and access to a car is desirable but not essential.
Shift Patterns
Shifts are Monday to Friday but there may be time you will be required to cover shifts dependent on the needs of the service. These could include evening and weekends, waking nights and sleepovers.
