Our Sustainability & Physics team in Manchester continues to be at the forefront of sustainable design and strategic consultancy in the region, with recent projects ranging from award-winning museums , premier league stadiums and performance venues , NABERS 5-star commercial offices , and even city-level decarbonisation plans .
In this role, your work could range from strategic sustainability guidance for large portfolio managers, to building design consultancy and advice on regional, national and international projects. Ultimately, your main focus will be in helping clients (developers, building owners/ operators & local authorities, architects/designers, corporates) with their sustainability challenges and supporting Buro Happold's ambitious net zero roadmap .
Joining a UK-wide sustainability team of over 100 engineers and consultants, you will also benefit from a wide range of technical and personal development support, along with a plethora of career development opportunities such as international secondments and transfers, R&D programmes , working groups, etc.
Key duties:
- Sustainability project and service support.
- Task leadership and direction/mentorship of more junior team members.
- Production of technical guidance and analysis to influence sustainability strategies.
- Providing written comments and producing reports and presentations with excellent visual and grammatical quality.
- Working as part of multidisciplinary teams (including, but not limited to attending meetings with architects, planners, government agencies and clients).
- Formulating external presentations for outreach and business development purposes.
Your skills & experience:
- Knowledge in one or more of the following areas; Energy and Carbon; Building Performance; Natural Capital; Climate Resilience; External Environments; Health & Wellbeing; Social Value; Circular economy.
- Working knowledge of wellbeing and sustainable design techniques, analysis or modelling relevant to the construction industry or corporate strategies.
- Experience in undertaking technical analysis, and the development of suitable responsive strategies.
- Experience producing high quality graphical and written outputs.
- Strong facilitation and team working skills.
- Sustainability assessment qualifications (e.g. LEED, BREEAM, WELL) and evidence of practical competence of their application.
- Exudes passion and enthusiasm for the built environment to support human outcomes and fair distribution of value.
- Relevant qualifications and professional membership is preferred.
