Job description

Ipswich Borough Council is looking for a motivated and experienced IT professional who wants to join our busy ICT applications team.
Reporting directly to the ICT Applications Team Manager, as Senior Systems Analyst you will be responsible for the provision of a number of ICT systems which are predominantly vendor-supplied Oracle or SQL Server based solutions deployed on Windows servers.
Day to Day
To be responsible for a number of ICT systems ensuring that they are reliable, available when required and meet business requirements.
Employ appropriate application maintenance, support and incident management processes and procedures to support and maintain ICT applications, and to investigate and resolve ICT application related incidents.
Installation, development, configuration and administration of operating systems and application releases, updates and patches.
Manage and support system analysts within the ICT applications team.
Manage ICT projects, supporting the design, implementation and deployment of new Business Solutions.
Provide advice and technical assistance to users in relation to the applications.
Collaborate with other support teams and 3rd party suppliers in the investigation and resolution of support requests and incidents.
Maintain ICT application support technical documentation.
About You
You should be able to demonstrate the following:
Experience of working in a professional ICT environment, in roles involving configuration, implementation and maintenance of systems.
Working knowledge and experience of Windows Servers and database solutions such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
Knowledge of managing ICT projects.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to accept responsibility and manage a varied workload.
Effective interpersonal skills and leadership qualities, with the ability to negotiate with and influence others.
The ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
Self-motivation with a willingness to learn and develop.
Ability to use and understand scripting or development languages.
Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.
DBS clearance is required for this role.
