Senior Systems Engineer

Salary is between £50,240 and £75,360 + Benefits Location - Edinburgh / Newcastle / Glasgow, Permanent Flexible hybrid working - 1 day per week in office, subject to change. Please note, the transfer date may change A career that works for you We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer As a Senior Systems Engineer in the Network Engineering team, you will be working on a diverse network infrastructure including data centre, LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and public cloud. The role involves: * Technical SME in networking platforms. * Responsible for design, build and delivery of networking solutions. * Provide support to resolve network issues and improve service for internal/external customers. * Maintain multiple tools for monitoring and visibility of network Infrastructure. * Engage with various engineering teams and IT Security to ensure all network services are secure, resilient, optimised, and compliant. We need you to have * Advanced understanding of; * Switches, routers, firewalls, load balancing, proxies, LAN, Wi-Fi, WAN, Data Centre, DNS, DHCP. * Network security fundamental concept and practice. * Network and Compute virtualization. * Windows/Linux server OS. * Automation and Infrastructure as code concepts/tools including Python and Ansible. * Cloud Computing (AWS and Azure). * Teamwork and interpersonal skills. And if you have any of these, even better * Experience of networking vendors such as Fortinet, Arista, Cisco, F5, Palo Alto, Check Point, Zscaler. * Background in supporting enterprise networks. * Hold or working towards Network/Security qualification or able to demonstrate equivalent experience. * Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. * Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. * Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
