Our client is expanding their Test department and are on the lookout for a Senior Test Engineer to join our team in Portland, Dorset or Chertsey, Surrey. In this role, you will be a vital link between the design and production departments and will actively contribute to defining test specifications, facilities, and processes.You will also play a key role in conducting tests across a diverse range of equipment, spanning from in- service systems to unique one-off and prototype designs.Beyond these responsibilities, you would look to drive continuous improvements throughout design, manufacturing, and test processes. This involves close collaboration with System DesignAuthorities, multi-disciplinary engineers, and production staff to champion the principles of 'Design for Manufacture' and 'Design for Test'.Reporting to: Principal Engineer (Hardware Lead)What you'll do Support and test of a range of bespoke products. Create, review and improve Test Specifications to support current and future test requirements. Identify process changes to enhanceproductivity, improve quality and reduce costs. Support System Design Authorities in test and manufacturing readiness reviews and thedevelopment of products. Transfer the testing of new products from engineering development to the manufacturing environment. Operate test equipment and identify new test equipment which may improve efficiency where necessary. Become involved in the design of bespoke and special-type test equipment. Promote 'Design for Manufacture' and 'Design for Test' amongst the engineering community. Support System Design Authorities with rootcause analysis of any test failures. Support production personnel in adhering to Manufacturing Instructions and identifying the System Design Authority where improvementsin processes could be introduced. Liaise with the Quality Assurance Manager toensure test processes are enacted andsupported in the production environment. Provide presentations of test results for all stakeholders to review. Estimate time required to complete given tasks choosing suitable metrics to compare performance. Provide analysis of test data to drive improvements.What you'll need Hands-on experience in testing in a development and production environment. Experience developing and implementing Test Specifications. Experience in fault finding and root cause analysis. A good communicator with the ability to define problems, express ideas and share technical information at all levels. Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong analytical approach with problem-solving skills and an eye for detail. Self-motivated to effectively carry out the work required to complete allocated tasks. A team player who understands a proactive, collaborative approach. Able to obtain SC Clearance. UK Driving License. Ability to travel nationally and internationally if required.
