Your new companyWe are currently working exclusively with a Local Authority within the West Midlands to support the recruitment of two Senior Trading Standards Officers on a full-time temporary basis.Your new roleAs a Senior Trading Standards Officer, you will be working as an expert within the Citizen & Consumer Protection Team.You will be responsible for managing all trading standard cases within a defined geographical area. It is also your responsibility to take lead in the interpretation and implementation of appropriate legislation, codes of practice and policies as per specialist area, providing technical support to officers where required.You will be responsible for conducting Food Standards inspections and dealing with Product Safety complaints and enquiries. It will be your duty to instigate criminal investigations, ensuring they are compliant with the Criminal Procedure Investigation Act 1996, including acting as Disclosure Officer, and the Human Rights Act, ensuring the provisions of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and the associated codes of practice are followed. This role is a temporary, full-time position at 37 hours per week. This position will be office-based, but you will be expected to go on visits regularly.What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will need to have extensive experience as a Trading Standards Officer. You will also need the following:
- You will already have knowledge regarding Food Standards as detailed by the FSA Food Law and Practice.
- Can carry out inspections in accordance with the relevant legislation and national codes of practice.
- Have relevant Product Safety and Trading Standards qualifications (TSPC, TSPD, TSAP).
- Knowledge of the CIVICA Trading Standards database is desirable.
