Service Engineering Lead
Lloyds Banking Group
Location: Birmingham. Hybrid working arrangements, (currently at least 2 days per week in office)
Salary & Benefits: £78,634 - £92,510 base salary, plus competitive benefits package including 15% employer pension contribution, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays, access to share scheme and staff discounts.

A major part of the Group strategy to grow in the mass affluent market and the new Mass Affluent team are focussed on designing a new digitally led proposition for this segment of customers.

Core purpose of the role
As an Engineering Lead, you'll be responsible for leading feature teams of engineers developing and supporting digital front-end and back-end applications. You’ll help to develop the technical designs of our customer focussed solutions and the plans to deliver them. You’ll actively promote transformation methodology and set technology and change delivery direction in alignment with the bank’s technology strategy, best practices & principles.
Line management will be a key part of this role, helping the engineers in the teams to grow and develop. You’ll also help push the engineering agenda within the wider Lab environment, looking for opportunities to improve and transform the technology we use to build our applications. All roles within this family work to solution, deliver, support and maintain LBG systems and services. The Service Engineering roles main objective is to provide a 24x7 available service offering for our colleagues and customers
What you’ll be involved in:
You’ll be someone who can contribute to the technical leadership team's work of driving the technology and future of the platform. You have technical know-how from developing and producing customer focussed journeys and services, stakeholder management working closely with strategy and UX/UI Design teams to architect, design and implement solutions and you’ll love mentoring and educating less experienced developers.
Essential skills and experience:
  • An experienced Engineering Lead background with a recent focus on developing customer facing solutions on a Public Cloud Platform
  • Technical thought leadership with evidence of pushing the boundaries of how your organisation delivers great applications
  • Experience in end-to-end software delivery using Agile methodologies and DevOps tooling
  • Technical know-how in cloud engineering techniques
  • The ability to build strong relationships and demonstrate a passion for solving real-world problems with data and technology
  • Leadership of mixed technical teams with good mentoring/coaching skills and a real joy for seeing people develop & succeed

  • Knows the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement. For example, emphasises continuous improvement and quality outcomes across the organisation and with external partners. Facilitates organisation-wide adoption of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Applies expertise to act as the organisational authority on identifying, assessing, prioritising, and managing risks in a production process.
