As the Database Service Lead, you will serve as the primary technical contact for the Database team, engaging in substantive technical and service discussions with senior management, as well as Architecture and Engineering stakeholders. Your ability to influence and guide others towards a cohesive strategy aligning with the Society’s needs is critical, ensuring effective representation of Database technologies from a supportability perspective.
Working closely with the Practice Manager, you will play a crucial role in setting team priorities, identifying necessary technical skills, and ensuring alignment with ongoing and future projects. The role involves addressing technical escalations, negotiating pragmatic solutions, and fostering strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers to maximize value.
You will have a pivotal role in overseeing service introduction and design tasks to guarantee their fitness for purpose from a Database perspective, safeguarding against potential risks. As a key contributor to our culture of Learning and Continuous Improvement, you will use innovative techniques to enhance performance and operation, serving as a role model for the team.

About you
Requirements:
- Extensive technical background in Production Infrastructure support for critical 24x7 services.
- Proficiency in Database technologies, including Oracle (on UNIX), Microsoft SQL Server (on Windows and AWS), and familiarity with AWS RDS.
- Direct experience in facilitating or resolving BAU (Business as Usual) issues.
- Capability to eventually contribute to the on-call rota.
- Strong focus on managing Incidents, Requests, and Problems, with previous Service Now experience considered an advantage.
- Identify service improvements and efficiencies.
- Automation skills using Ansible, Terraform, and/or PowerShell, Python, BASH shell scripting.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification.
- Proficiency in Jira.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification.
- Experience with MS SQL SERVER RDBMS 2019 and higher, including High availability (AOAG), or Oracle 19C RDBMS and higher, including High Availability (Dataguard), or AWS RDS for various databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, Aurora).
