Gateshead Council is recruiting Shared Lives carers to support adults of all ages in the Gateshead area.
We need new Shared Lives carers to join our team, We are looking to recruit people who can offer live in care or respite support and who can help someone with additional needs live their very best life. Being a Shared Lives carer is a rewarding and fulfilling care role where you can really help someone to thrive.
As a Shared Lives carer, you will open up and share your home and family life with someone who needs care and support.
This might include:
- supporting with everyday tasks such as getting up or cooking
- teaching them new skills or how to live more independently
- assisting them to do social activities or access their local community
- going on family events
If you have:
- good communication and organisational skills
- are patient, understanding, resilient
- have time, energy and space in your home (including a spare bedroom) to care for others
- would like to use your skills in a new way and develop further skills
- can provide a safe and secure environment in your home
