Role Responsibility
Bluebells in Detling offers overnight short breaks for children in Kent from the age of 5 to 18 years old, who have learning disabilities and/or Autism, and will have some additional support needs. These may include health related needs, behaviours of concern, or help with every day tasks. We always support children to have fun with their friends and peers, to learn skills, make choices, and to be supported in a safe and nurturing environment, so that they, and their families, can have a break.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, who can lead a small busy team whilst creating a safe, nurturing, fun environment for children and young people of varying needs.
To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who:
- can lead a shift whilst leading by example to the team and children/young people
- has completed or be willing to undertake the Diploma level 4 in Children and Young People and is able to put training and knowledge into practice
- has excellent time management with a non-bias approach when on shift
- is willing to undertake training in medication management and keep competencies up to date
- can work with the team to ensure all children and young people are given the opportunity to gain new positive experiences and social experiences that are inclusive for all
- can communicate with transparency
- has awareness of the Children's Home (England) Regulations 2015 and puts these into practice

This role includes some weekends and evening hours plus sleeping in, for which you will receive a payment for. Interviews will be conducted under the ‘Choosing with Care’ assessment process which includes a pre-interview visit.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
