Position Purpose & Summary To operate the plant safely and efficiently whilst optimising production through the best utilisation of the plant’s equipment. To achieve best in class operating performance and ensure safe working practices are adhered to by Cargill personnel and contractors To undertake problem solving and decision making within the plant and within a self-managed, continuous improvement environment To effectively communicate with both internal and external customers and stakeholders
Principal Accountabilities
Preparation Plant
Ensure safety standards are maintained in the plant by following work permit procedures, inspections, USUW reporting etc.
Ensure process conditions are monitored and any deviations in process are acted upon and process is brought back to normal operating conditions.
Walk critical path and conduct Opcare inspections.
Collect samples and perform analysis on NIR
Monitor and adjust flakers and expellers through regular surveys
Inspect and adjust other equipment such as sieves, dust filters, conveyors, cookers, screws and elevators as required
Carry out housekeeping duties as required
Report any faults in plant equipment in SAP and liaise with Maintenance to facilitae maintenance activities in safe way.
Extract plant
Ensure safety standards are maintained in the plant by following work permit procedures, inspections, USUW reporting etc.
Ensure process conditions are monitored and any deviations in process are acted upon and process is brought back to normal operating conditions maintaining quality parameters in specification
Ensure process is operating within environmental operating limits as per PPC permit
Carry out regular plant inspections and Opcare insections
Carry out CRITICAL SAFETY DEVICE tests as per schedule.
Report any faults in plant equipment in SAP and liaise with Maintenance to facilitae maintenance activities in safe way.
Collect samples and perform analysis on NIR
Carry out housekeeping duties as required
General Duties
Tanker off-loading and outloading of products
Continuous improvement ideas
Basic mechanical tasks as appropriate
Plant inspections (housekeeping and safety surveys in all areas)
Any addition tasks as required
Education, Experience, Skills Minimum Required Qualifications NVQ III/HNC in mechanical or chemical engineering, or process engineering, or qualified by relevant experience Strong experience within an industrial process environment. 5 GCSE’s grade A-C (including English and Maths) IT skills
Preferred Qualifications Strong experience of working under own initiative Experience in a Crush / Extraction plant for softseed Continuous improvement methods Basic mechanical engineering and diagnostic skills Planning and organisational capability Knowledge of HACCP First Aid Certificate/ FLT licence
Other relevant information to the position
Shift work (12 hours) on a 5 shift pattern, days, nights and weekends
Job does not command overtime payments on top of the salary communicated
