Job description

On behalf of the Production Team Leader, The Production Shift Team Leader is a key role responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of the CDC plant, remote operation of Killingholme OCGT and monitoring of the Gas Pipelines. This involves ensuring the necessary operational and commercial procedures are followed and ongoing performance is monitored and reviewed. The role holder will be accountable for all aspects of the operational delivery at CDC from a shift operations perspective and to carry out line manager duties for production Team members on a shift.

Your responsibilities


  • Provide visible leadership to identify, drive and champion continuous improvement so that the site achieves and maintains independent recognition for high quality safety, environmental and operational management systems.
  • Maintain and deliver continued safety and environmental compliance in line with company standards and the Environment Agency permit requirements.
  • To operate and direct the operation of the plant within National Grid Compliance Code and as instructed by Uniper Global Commodities and National Grid.
  • To liaise with Uniper Global Commodities and other stakeholders to ensure the optimal performance from the plant and resources.
  • Management and application of the Uniper Safety Rules processes.
  • Managing the performance and development of Team Members working at CDC.
  • Undertaking first-line maintenance and fault finding where plant problems arise, subject to training and competence.
  • Analysing trends in plant performance, identifying variances against targets and taking appropriate action to resolve.
  • Undertaking the role of “Process Manager” or “Process Owner” for key elements of the business as appropriate.
  • Setting standards of behaviour for Production at CDC and acting as a role model.
  • Producing job plans, risk assessments and method statements
  • Ensuring the team is competent to remotely operate KH from CDC
  • To Monitor Gas Pipelines and act as first emergency response.
  • The role holder will be required to rotate into the Production Day Operations Engineer role as required by the business.


Your profile


  • Educated to a Higher National Certificate/Degree level in an Engineering or equivalent, supported with an extensive technical knowledge of production practises gained through experience.
  • A comprehensive understanding of health, safety, Security and environmental legislation and standards and a positive safety mind set possessing the ability to drive the correct safety culture in others including a safety management qualification (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health – Managing Safely / National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health Certificate)
  • Positive work ethic with the confidence to challenge established practices.
  • Fully understanding of and ability to deliver SAP & Maintenance best practice.
  • Knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the management and operations of the CCGT fleet.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to think rationally but act positively when under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage performance and motivate, coach and mentor individuals, teams and contract staff.
  • The confidence to challenge established practices, suggesting imaginative solutions to problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Planning and organising skills to include effective prioritising, resource management and a long term strategic focus.
  • A proven ability to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues evaluating relevant data and drawing appropriate conclusions.
  • A good working knowledge of key PC based computer systems.
