About the role:
Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a global company, who specialise within the Energy from Waste industry, to recruit for 5 Shift Team Leaders to join their new-build Energy from Waste Power Station in Fife, Scotland. This opportunity will be working through the commissioning period into full operations, so it will be a fantastic opportunity to familiarise yourself with the plant with extensive training going into full operations. The EfW will process 240,000 tonnes of waste per annum, exporting 21.5MW of electricity to the grid.
The vital Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of �53,000 + �5,000 Shift Allowance + up to 10% Bonus + Private Medical + Pension + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for:
* The day-to-day management of a team of Shift Operators / Shift Technicians who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a high-pressure boiler, generator and auxiliary plant.
* Working closely with the EPC team during the commissioning phase of the plant
* Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
* Maximising waste input and energy production
* Chairing daily meetings after a shift handover to review health, safety & environmental issues, overnight activities and plans for the shift ahead.
* Acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching, and carrying out mechanical and electrical isolations.
* Working with the maintenance department when required to ensure maximum plant availability.
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 or above qualification in an engineering discipline
* A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
* Ideally HV Senior Authorised Person
Experience and personal skills:
The Shift Team Leader role would suit someone who has:
* Prior experience working in heavy process engineering environments such as Power (EfW, CCGT, Coal, Biomass, CHP), Petrochemicals, Refineries, Paper Mills, etc.
* Knowledge and experience working with steam generation equipment.
* Extensive experience working with SCADA/DCS systems.
* Familiar with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) Procedures including writing and issuing of permits.
* Excellent proven leadership skills
* Ability to work as part of a team and cover for shift staff in times of absence on short notice
