Job description

The Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen is a prestigious and long established membership organisation with a Shop/Gallery selling contemporary crafts. A vacancy has now arisen for a full time manager. This is an exciting and rewarding position for the right person, someone who is self motivated, able to manage their own time and tasks, able to maximise sales and achieve the best for the Guild with the support of their manager and members of the Guild.This person should be able to demonstrate that they have worked in a similar role with a high level of competence and good humour and ideally with knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary crafts.
Duties:
1. Shop stock duties
Co-ordinating the delivery of members’ work
Coding, labelling and entering stock details onto Shopify
Liaising with Guild members to arrange restocking
Liaising with the Guild Treasurer when required
Selecting and ordering non-Guild cards for re-sale
Selecting and ordering all necessary packaging materials
Packing and shipping online orders
2. Display
Displaying members work to the best advantage
Changing displays regularly including the window displays
3. Managing the shop
Building relationships with customers and selling members work
Taking responsibility for security within the shop, opening up in the morning and securing at the end of the day
Providing clear instructions for the members & volunteers about the day-to-day running of the shop
Liaising with members about their volunteer hours supporting the shop
Liaising with members about stock and display requirements
Ensuring that the shop fixtures, fittings and equipment are in good order and working properly
Ensuring that the shop is kept clean
Carrying out induction of new Guild members into the shop stewarding procedures
Keeping the Shop Procedures Manual up to date
4. Financial – in conjunction with the Guild Treasurer
Daily reconciliation of all transactions of cash and card sales
Banking cash on a regular basis using the paying in book supplied
5. Marketing and promotion
Attending a monthly Guild Marketing Committee meeting by Zoom.
Supplying regular shop stock images for use on social media, press releases, magazine entries etc and placing in a designated Guild Dropbox
Developing links with related events in and around Cheltenham to maximise promotional opportunities
6. Supporting the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen
Providing information about members to customers
Forwarding non shop related emails from the 2 Guild email boxes to the Chairperson.
Providing a monthly Shop Report to their manager, the Guild Chairperson
Reporting any concerns and issues to the Chairperson.
