Are you a Software Engineer, who is looking for a new challenge working on exciting projects? Are you someone who will take pride in quality, values teamwork and collaboration? If you are, then this role could be for you. MASS, a defence technology company are currently looking for a self-motivated and proactive Software Engineer to join our team at Corsham.
How your experience will be utilised
This role involves analysing, designing, and modifying a complex existing software package to improve its quality, performance, and maintainability. Additionally, there will be a need to add new features and/or improve existing ones.
To be part of a small team responsible for re-engineering an existing complex, technical software product. This involves:
- Analysis of the existing system, including the code, documentation, and other artefacts. This involves identifying the system’s strengths and weaknesses plus any issues that may need addressing.
- Designing the replacement software. This involves identifying the various changes required (i.e. encapsulation/reuse, refactoring or rebuild/re-design) and developing plans to implement them.
- Implementing the changes by modifying the existing code, adding new features, and updating the documentation and other artefacts.
- Testing the software to ensure that it meets the new requirements and specifications.
- Deployment of the re-engineered software and make it available to end-users.

We’re expecting that you’ve done a similar role before, so you’ll know how to do it whilst spinning multiple plates:
- Experience of Enterprise Architect or similar tools.
- Demonstrable understanding of software design, and implementation in accordance with recognised best practice.
- Working, technical knowledge of C++.Prior knowledge of Fortran is useful but not required.
- A sound grasp of the key principles and techniques of physics and maths-based computer modelling.
