Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Children's ED nursing team.
The role of the Sister / Charge Nurse is pivotal in providing leadership and support to our nursing team, ensuring the smooth running of a shift in a challenging, busy environment.
We have a purpose built department for children that includes a high dependency area, resuscitation bays, sensory room and vulnerable persons cubicles. We also have a 12 bedded Children's Short Stay Unit (CSSU) co-located within Children's ED.
We have a dedicated children’s ED educator to support the nursing team and a simulation pod to facilitate learning in a safe equipped environment.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, confident and self-motivated nurses who possess excellent communication skills and enjoy a challenge. Applicants must enjoy a fast pace acute environment as well as having a keen interest in ensuring high quality nursing standards are being delivered.
Accountable and responsible for Children’s ED. To be visible, accessible and responsive to the needs of service users, patients, carers and the public.
Be an expert clinical practitioner, supporting the development of nursing staff (including ancillary and clinical support staff) to provide excellent quality of care to patients and services users. You are required to work clinically as well as provide managerial cover.
Provide direction and effective and inspirational leadership to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team (including ancillary and clinical support staff) within the area for which you are accountable.
Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the team, CMG and across the wider organisation.
Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement within the unit for which you are responsible.
Practice clinically in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a defined caseload.
Have the ability to multi-task and prioritise under pressure, working within a large multi-disciplinary team.
Ensure trust values are incorporated into practice clinically and with the management of your team.
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
