About the role


The purpose of the role is to provide management, leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team
comprising Sub Agents, Section Engineers, Site Engineers & Foremen
SZC is ultimately owned by two shareholders, EDF and HMG. The shareholders hold their
investment in SZC through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. Over the course of the
current shareholding arrangements the shareholdings of the two shareholders will change.
The shareholders will fund SZC up until Financial Close through equity in line with the approved schedule
and budget. SZC’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually
decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure (including activities relating to hydrogen,
direct air capture and/or desalination) at Sizewell C in Suffolk. The principal objectives of the current
development phase of the SZC project are to agree and implement the Capital Raise Plan, including
completing an equity and debt raise, agree the core supply chain contracts and obtain the regulatory permits
and licences required for the construction phase of the Project (including the core environmental permits
and nuclear site licence).

  • Motivate section team and manage performance; monitor the competency of team members and
undertake training/ coaching as appropriate

Health Safety & Environmental
  • Carries out periodic Safety & Environment Tours as required by the Project H & S Plan
  • Assists Lead in Incident Investigation and information gathering / review.
  • Appraises improvement options and actions / instigates as appropriate
  • Leads periodic risk reviews and takes output forward to the Project Risk Register
  • Monitors effectiveness of the H & S Management System
  • Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an
appropriate level of ability
Quality
  • Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project objectives and monitors performance
  • Ensures site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings
  • Appraises improvement options and leads / instigates actions as appropriate
  • Implements systems and processes to manage the quality of the constructive works
  • Overall ownership of Handover Documentation for Section
Productivity
  • Sets targets and KPI’s in line with key outputs and monitors performance, reporting Section Progress
  • Carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme
  • Manages sub-contractor performance based on KPI’s
  • Ensures production of operational target programmes to reflect overall construction programme
Commercial
  • Sets targets and KPI’s in line with budget forecast
  • Attends and provides reports for weekly project meetings and identifies improvement areas and
allocates / implements appropriate actions to team members
  • Involved in the procurement of subcontractors and advises on commercial aspects & preferred
attendances
  • Prepares a cost plan and manages cost value

Who we're looking for
  • Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are
followed accurately. Suggests and implements improvements to systems and capable of stopping
operations when necessary.
  • Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card.
  • SMSTS qualified.
