As a Landfill Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing, reporting, and preserving the leachate extraction and surface water systems at our client's site. You will be responsible for operating the leachate treatment plant, ensuring strict compliance with discharge consent regulations, and offering insights into best practices and emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the leachate and surface water systems to ensure their optimal functioning
• Conducting daily repairs, testing, and maintenance on multiple systems
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Control of Pollution Act, Special Waste Regulations, and the Environmental Protection Act
• Operate only the plant for which you have written authorisation from your line manager
• Cover for the Weighbridge Operative or Site Operatives in their absence
• Move to other locations, including Quarries, on a temporary basis as requested
• Ensure all operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner
• Maintain the leachate treatment and surface water systems, keeping associated infrastructure in a clean and tidy condition

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in a similar role within the environmental or waste management sector
• Proven track record of ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards
• Ability to adapt to different locations and occasional temporary assignments
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Good verbal and written communication abilities

Due to the nature of the role, occasional site visit are necessary, so a driving license would be beneficial.

The hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5pm
