About the role
We are looking for a Sixth Form Learning Mentor to join our dedicated team of staff who guide and support our A-level students. The role involves supporting individual and small groups of students, specifically helping them adapt to independent study at A-level. The successful candidate will develop independent study programmes for students working alongside teachers and the Sixth Form team and under the guidance of the Director of Sixth Form. The role would be suitable for either a recent graduate looking to gain experience of working with young people or a more experienced individual looking to widen their expertise.

About you
PERSON SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Maths and English to at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent
Degree qualification (desirable)
EXPERIENCE
Experience of working with young adults
Experience of working within a school environment
IT competency
Knowledge of the VESPA model and experience in a range of practices that support a child’s progress
PERSONAL SKILLS AND QUALITIES
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
A passion for student wellbeing and providing academic support
Up to date knowledge of best practice in a school environment
The ability to work independently and use initiative
The ability to work as part of a team
A personal commitment to professional development and the updating of job related skills
Willing to be flexible and adaptable
Working to tight deadlines
Good sense of humour (desirable)
