We’re looking for permanent Marine Riggers to join our team, based in Portishead, North Somerset. There are multiple positions available for this role, and we’re looking for local people to join us!
Your new role
The Marine Riggers will be a key part of the Osprey team and responsible for the execution of onsite operations utilising Osprey’s fleet of cranes, rigging equipment and other assets. Working as part of the heavy lifting team in the Projects division, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle within a project, such as working to QHSE standards, following details RAMS and engineered drawings, mobilisation/demobilisation of equipment and operation of heavy lift cranes.
As a Marine Rigger you will be accountable for:
- Operational Delivery – ensuring site activities are conducted in alignment with Osprey’s standards and procedures, as well as working to defined Rams and Lift Plans produced by engineers, supporting and assisting the Osprey team on the safe and efficient delivery of projects.
- Site Relationships – developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Osprey colleagues, and supporting client conversations when required. Ensure clear lines of communication as part of a lift team.
- Industry Knowledge – following industry best practice, share training and learning with others, being aware of legislation and regulations applicable to all tasks conducted as part of this role.
- Lifting and Marine Expertise – ensure that lifting and marine activities are conducted in a manner in keeping with Osprey’s requirements and LOLER. Ensure that pre-use checks are conducted, any defects are reported to your line manager and assist with basic maintenance as required.
- Technical Expertise – understand the principles of lifting and marine operations activities – covering basic and complex lifts utilising all types of lifting tackle. Ability to identify defective lifting tackle and remove from use. Able to support with barge and marine operations including line handling etc.

What you’ll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have:
- CPCS Blue Card – Slinger Signaller
- CITB H&S Operative
- Experience working in either Ports, Civil, Infrastructure, Marine, Oil & Gas, Renewables, Railway or Nuclear environments – within a heavy lifting role
- Knowledge of LOLER / PUWER
- Able to adapt to different and environments and change
- Enjoy taking a problem solving approach to your work – and high degree of resilience
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills (in particular in a Marine environment/terminology)
- Effective working as part of a team, but also able to take initiative when required
- Able to follow out instructions and carry out tasks as advised, required and in accordance with with procedures
- Highly desirable (but not essential) if you have experience in handling mooring/lines
Due to the proximity of our working locations, we’re looking for local people to join our team to work in and around the south-west area. Please note occasional working in other locations may be required.
Please note this role requires a UK full driving license and the individual to pass a safety critical medical.

Salary: £13.00-£16.50 per hour
