Job Role/Purpose

We are currently recruiting for a Slitting Operator to work in our manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will operate plant and machinery within the slitting department, maintaining targeted output with minimal interruption whilst maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to safe working practices, recognising actual and potential hazards and taking the correct effective action to minimize accidents.

Other responsibilities will include:

Ensure that the expected performance targets, set by the planning teams, are achieved.

• Ensure that the net waste KPI is in line with agreed levels.
• Carry out correct start up, running and shutdown procedures as per works instructions
• Follow set production programs, understanding the importance of running to plan and association between production schedule and product specifications.
• Prioritise responsibilities to ensure housekeeping and hygiene standards are at an acceptable standard
• Adhere to product specifications, use Company Quality Systems, and take corrective action to safeguard product quality.

Comprehensive training for the role will be given and on successful completion of the first part of this you will receive a 10% pay increase (after approximately 3 months of employment) alongside the opportunity to progress further once signed off on all Slitting Machines.

About you

• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment- Slitting experience would be an advantage
• Experience of working 12-hour day and night shifts.
• Excellent communication skills
• Self-disciplined with the ability to set and maintain high standards
• Motivated to create a safe environment for yourself at all times ensuring you always work in a safe manner
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to self-motivate
• Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team

Working hours, Pay and Holiday Entitlement

The position will be working on a 12-hour shift rota, covering days and nights on a 24/5 shift basis (Includes working 1 in every 6 Sunday nights bank holiday working)

The starting salary is £26,083.51 (£11.94 per hour) rising to £28,981.68 (£13.27 per hour) after successful completion of training for the role (approximately 3 Months from start date)

Initially you will receive 240 hours per annum (pro-rata to reflect start date) which increases through service up to a maximum of 288 hours. The holiday year runs from Jan to Dec each year)
