Hammersmith and Fulham – Smart Transport Officer
Our local authority client is looking for an experienced Smart Transport Officer to join their busy offices based in Hammersmith on an initial temporary basis. Full details below:
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To work as part of the Smarter Transport team to deliver on the Council’s aim to create a Sustainable Borough, by promoting active travel and alternative travel modes. This will include:
1. Managing delivery of core elements of the LIP and the Councils programmes
2. Encouraging alternatives to the car, tackling traffic congestion and road safety
3. Providing effective sustainable community leadership and engagement
4. Promoting micro mobility and alternative safer travel
5. Launching pilot schemes and trials and engaging with community stakeholders
6. To support the Division’s policy objectives by leading on Cycling and Active aspects of policy and scheme development and bid preparation.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Experience of working in the Transport and Highways industry on Smarter, Sustainable and Active Travel behaviour change campaigns, policy and schemes.
- Proven knowledge and experience of the policy context for fulfilling the Smarter Travel team functions.
- To have the expertise and experience of delivering Sustainable Transport schemes and knowledge of relevant policy and strategies on micro mobility, MAAS, rad safety, travel demand management and the techniques to achieving mode shift and cross disciplinary agendas in Public Health, Wellbeing and Transport.
- An undergraduate degree in a related discipline.
- Desirable: A post graduate degree in Transport Planning, Traffic engineering or related discipline.
- Desirable: Professional accreditation as a Transport Planner or demonstrate a commitment towards achieving accreditation of an equivalent standard.
- Ability to manage and commission projects from initiation to completion and liaise with officers across departments to achieve the departments priorities.
- Ability to design and deliver schemes that achieve the Transport and mode shift agenda and ensure delivery partners deliver high quality and engaging interventions to relevant performance criteria.
- To be able to maintain partnerships with key stakeholders and partners and ensure the Teams deliverables are met.
- To be able to ensure the teams deliverables are met within areas of focus e.g. school or business community.
- To be able to ensure Travel Planning functions are fulfilled and travel monitoring is undertaken by partner organisations and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage deliverables and the parameters of cost, scope quality and priority.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a balanced, clear and authoritative way to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven knowledge of the use and potential for information technology in service delivery and experience in managing complex databases to manage.
- Ability to embrace innovation and creativity in service delivery and work towards achieving a quality service.
