A bit about me:
I’m an 11 year old girl with a learning disability. I have a great sense of fun. My main interests are music, books, drawing, ball play. I also enjoy watching TV shows like Britain’s Got Talent. I also like swimming and cooking.. I like lots of chatting and someone who can make me laugh. I live at home with my Mum and Dad and older Sister. I have a rare genetic disorder called Syngap1. This means I have a learning disability and communication issues as well as low muscle tone. Cognitively I am more like a 3 year old but physically I can do most things with a little help.
About the role:
This role is to support a family by giving monthly respite care to a delightful 11 year old girl for one day per month. It will allow the parents to enjoy a day that they can devote to their other child. It will start giving her a little independence from the home. People that care for me need to have a great sense of playfulness. I love being chatted with especially about my interests and generally given lots of attention and made to laugh. Some personal care involved.
The kind of person I am looking for:
I am looking for somebody who is friendly and approachable, responsible, reliable and trustworthy. To respect confidentiality and privacy and be sensitive to my needs. To understand that dignity and independence are important. Be willing to learn and able to work on your own initiative.
