Social Media & Video Content Producer - Scotland

Reporting of the Role
This role reports to Managing Editor for Scotland.


Overview of job

You will be responsible for the smooth creation and delivery of industry-leading social and Video Content across our radio brands in Scotland. With a particular focus on Heart Scotland, you’ll manage the social accounts to help bring our content to new audiences and attract new listeners to our radio stations.

You’ll be an integral part of the Broadcasting & Content team in Scotland, and work alongside Heart’s wider video, digital and social team in London to build outstanding, engaging social and Video Content that ensures our brands remain at the top of mind for our Scottish audiences.

Measures of success –
In the first few months, you would have:

  • Helped to increase the followers of the Heart Scotland social accounts.

  • Created engaging video output from our state-of-the-art visualised radio studios. The best in the business!

  • Supercharged the content on Heart Scotland’s Social Media channels and Global Player; whilst growing the audience for our visual content.

  • Started creating original video formats/series with Heart Scotland talent and Scottish personalities.

  • Learnt new, and improved upon existing, video production skills and techniques.

  • Built great relationships with all staff, presenters and the rest of the Glasgow Broadcast Centre, alongside the wider Heart Digital team in Leicester Square.

  • Understood and adopted internal processes, workflows and policies.

Responsibilities of the role

  • You will be responsible for managing and growing the Heart Scotland social accounts.

  • Creating and publishing memorable social and Video Content that our audiences will want to share and engage with on a daily basis.

  • Mastermind our stations video output, bring out the best in our radio talent and influence how we continue to publish engaging content for our digital audience.

  • Designing eye-catching memes and static social posts.

  • Taking part in creative brainstorms, continually sharing new ideas and concepts for content with the team and liaising with the Heart digital team in Leicester Square to ensure Heart Scotland is joined up with the wider network / business.

What you will need


The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

  • A genuine passion for creating compelling Social Media content.

  • You’ll be someone who is excited by what great Social Media content can do and understand its value to an audio business.

  • Proven expert knowledge of how to use analytical data to increase social engagement and grow social audience.

  • Intermediate/Expert knowledge and understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop. Experience with other Adobe Suite apps such as After Effects and Illustrator would be an advantage.

  • Experience creating and implementing Social Media strategies for brands, preferably for a business within the entertainment industry.

  • Experience of working with on-air talent and well-known personalities.

  • Knowledge of filming / camera operating techniques.

  • A proven understanding of the Social Media landscape, the need to adapt content per platform and the ability to plan shoots to cater for them.

  • We’re a small team in Scotland, so you’ll have a great team spirit, poses a can-do attitude, be good at juggling multiple projects, and be willing to go above and beyond to get the job done to the highest standard.
