Northumberland County Council are looking for passionate Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) who are keen to deliver a high-quality, Adult Mental Health service.

We are keen to appoint enthusiastic and experienced AMHPs who can share our vision in the development of the AMHP role.
We have a AMHP team manager, who is the single point of contact for all daytime requests for Mental Health Act assessment across the County and you will be part of an established AMHP team whose role includes following patients through their journey through hospital to discharge and ensuring successful return home. This allows the AMHP to see the whole story through to recovery rather than just intervening at the most difficult point in a patient’s experience. Full time AMHPs work four days including one 8AM to 8PM long day per week and carry a small case load of patients in hospital. This model offers the opportunity to continue the development and application of your Social Work/ Professional skills, values and specialist knowledge in the context of working with complex ethical and legislative processes. You must be able to work flexible hours which includes providing out of hour’s standby for AMHP duties only on a rota basis. The ability to drive and to have your own transport is required due to the nature of the work.
Main Responsibilities include:
· act as an AMHP on behalf of Northumberland County Council, undertaking Mental Health Act work.
· work autonomously and have extensive of working with individuals, carers and families in a mental health crisis.
· provide consultation, support, and assistance to the wider community teams.
· completing care act assessments for patients newly admitted to hospital
· provide a range of assessments and care interventions to promote mental health well-being and social inclusion wherever possible.

Essential requirements:
For these roles you must hold:
• A registered Professional/Social Work qualification.
• A current Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification
• Registration with Social Work England or other Professional registering body.

The salary range is £42403 - 46464
