There’s never been a more exciting time to join Doncaster Council.
We are passionate about Doncaster - it’s a great place to live, do business and visit.
We have plenty to shout about – Doncaster is the UK’s best connected location, we have many major developments in the pipeline, a vibrant urban centre with a thriving arts and cultural scene, sport and leisure attractions, wonderful green spaces and a fascinating heritage. We firmly believe, as do our partners, that Doncaster is the place to be with a bright future and ambitions ahead of it. But don’t just take our word for it – anyone joining the council, can look forward to expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic, creative and nurturing environment while truly making a difference to the communities we serve.
Here at Doncaster Council our Children in Care service is centralised and covers the whole of the Doncaster area.
With a permanent leadership team and the continued development of a supportive, innovative personal development culture, we are on a clear journey to improve services for children, young people and families in Doncaster.
As part of this journey, we are continuing to strengthen our social work teams with individuals who are passionate about developing and delivering the innovations and quality of service we believe the communities of Doncaster deserve and are currently looking for a Social Worker on a full-time permanent basis to work as part of the Children in Care Service.
Our Social Workers carry a caseload of Children in Care, where care is the agreed plan. Our children live within a variety of settings and some of our children live outside of the Doncaster area – therefore travelling out of borough maybe needed. We are also a 0-18 service, working alongside our leaving care services to ensure children transition into adulthood with robust plans for the future.
Social Workers, within the CIC service, will be required to undertake statutory visits to Children in Care; chair meetings in relation to children’s care plans and provide support, advice and guidance to carers in relation to the children they are working with. The work requires a practitioner who is child centred and able to build strong professional relationships with children, young people and families.
The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the continued good performance of the team in relation to the timeliness and quality of their practice.
Social Workers are required to have a professional social work qualification and be fully registered with Social Work England.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and access to a range of staff discount and flexible benefits schemes. Visit our Working in Doncaster - City of Doncaster Council page to find out more.
